Here’s some handy info for this years Pride SL in Hamilton!
Where is the event taking place? The former pedestrianised section of Quarry Street. ML3 7AW
Transport options: Hamilton Central train and bus station is located 2 minutes walk from the event area. Hamilton town centre is 25min drive from Glasgow. Several council run carparks are located close by to the Quarry Street area.
When does the entertainment start? We are running entertainment from 3 locations with the main stage opening at 11:30am
When does the march set off? If you are marching with us, please be on Quarry Street by 1pm. The march will set off by 2pm, however time is needed to ensure everyone is lined up and ready to go!
Is the route accessible? The route takes around 1 hour to complete. There are 3 steps at Beckford Street, however a ramp will be available to cover these steps. This is the area where the march will turn back to return to Quarry Street and as such participants do not need to use the 3 steps to remain within the march. Stewards will be on hand to support.
Will there be a team supporting the march? Rock steady security, our team and a significant number of volunteers will be supporting the march alongside the Police as it progresses through Hamilton. Please follow the instructions provided by our stewards. If support is required before or during the march please alert a member of the team.
Should I bring anything on the march? We would recommend remaining hydrated and consider the length of the route and weather conditions. We would love to see your Pride flags and banners so feel free to bring these along.
Can groups join? Yes, however groups/organisations intending to join must contact us at info@lanarkshirepride.co.uk in advance to register the group. Note that groups must include allocated stewards, 1 for every 10 participants, which are required to be registered with us. We can receive group applications up to Friday 12pm Friday 1st August.
Will there pride flags available to purchase? Yes, an official event vendor is located near to the stage area with pitch fees used towards making the event happen. Anyone selling product outwith a stall or Gazebo is not part of our event and should not be trading in the area.
Can other types of flags be included within the march? We respectfully ask that this march is focused on LGBTQ+ causes and messages.
Is there anywhere to get something to eat and drink on the day? Yes the event area contains several cafe’s. The market will also contain a small amount of food vendors.
Are there toilet facilities in the area? Yes toilets are located within the Regent Shopping centre directly opposite the event area.
Will there be photos taken and shared publicly? Yes, given a key aspect of a pride march and event is visibility, photos will be shared.
When does the event finish? The entertainment and market closes at 4pm
What time is Tia Kofi performing? Tia’s set is due to start when the march returns to Quarry Street around 15:15 following speeches.
What happens if the weather is not good? Please dress for the weather. Any changes will be communicated on our social media.
